Its back...

And how!!!

Two close contests.. One a high scoring match, the other a super over cliff hanger..Emotion. Drama. Action. A contest.

Cricket has taken back the narrative of the IPL.. No need for the extra hype anymore because the cricket has taken care of that too.

The biggest USP of IPL 1 was the fact that people bought into the city franchises and because the quality of cricket was of such consistently high standard.

The IPL 2 began on a damp note, was talked up by Lalit Modi and Ravi Shastri and the motley crew of commentators. Till today.

Cricket is back baby!!! Front and center!

The more I see RR punch above their weight, the more I ask how bloody daft were ACB not to have made Warne the captain after Waugh, if not after Taylor.

Kamran Khan - doff my hat to the guy. To perform under immense pressure, and to keep your cool. Including having the quick thinking to effect the run out..

My biggest grouse ??? Damn that Shetty is irritating - giggling and laughing during the most thrilling of matches. Peoples career might be made or broken, and for her it's all a laugh. Atleast SRK had the decency to look serious.

Damn if there was only someway to ban Bollywood from IPL !

you feel that the earlier games (barring RR vs BRC) were not great cos they saw good contests between bat and ball or the matches were not high scoring ones?

what do we want? an even contest b.w bat and ball or ball being killed by bat?

if you mean that the Bollywood and other kachra elements took backseat then yes Cricket is back and thick in the acctionnnn..

but if its regarding the retreat of the high scores then i dont concur!!

Close encounters are exciting. But BRC's chances appear to drop steeply in easy batting conditions. The specialists in the top order are crap irrespective of the conditions; but the bowling and Dravid succeed much better than the opposition in bowler friendly conditions.

Tifosi Guy,

I agree about Warne and the daftness of the ACB.. But thats what administocrats do :).

As regards Kamran Khan,he looks a good prospect. My worry is that too much fame too soon and he could go the Vinod Kambli way. And I want to see him fail one season in the Ranji to know how good he really is.

Shetty, the less said, the better :)

Cheers,

Sam,

I feel that the contests till yesterday were too one sided. The drama and the excitement that are the hallmarks of a close contest were missing.
