I hope ICL sign most of the performing young Ranji players. This'll force BCCI to take back its ridiculous decision to impose life ban on players participating in this league!

How ridiculous is that ? So far the players who are in ICL or would be in ICL are those who know they wont ever make the Indian colors or are the discards like Sriram from TN, or Dheeraj Jadhav from Maha or as rumored Nilesh Kulkarni and once an India material, ex Mumbai skipper Amol Mujumdar along with Sanjay Bangar, R.S. Sodhi, L.R. Shukla.
India isnt short of cricket players and the national team doesnt need traitors who switch the sides just for money. ICL is doing no good to Indian cricket by luring the young players with lucrative money.
I hope you get the point.
The Indian place doesnt come easy and the players have to fight hard and play well consistently over multiple seasons. And players who have crossed over to ICL would be in a loss, money would come but they wont be recognized and they wont ever play for the country -- which should be the sole aim for any sportsmen.

The BCCI is a private body just as the ICL.And they are competing for the same revenues and the same eyeballs.And neither has a monopoly of kids playing cricket and nor do they need each other's approval to do thier thing :)

I am skeptical of the ICL but in no way, shape or form is the team affiliated to the BCCI the national team.
The BCCI is a private body and for all the revenues that it generates, just how much of that monies is channeled back to the domestic game?
And if money isnt the object, then why is the BCCI, a non profit Trust, sitting on such ridiculous amounts of money ? Isnt that were it gets its clout from?
Then why deny kids, who have a pretty small shelf life as sportspeople, the opportunity to maximize thier incomes?

BCCI is private body. Agreed. but its accreditted by ICC. BCCI runs ICC approved Tests, ODIs and now T20 in India. ICL doesnt hold that right. That simple.
And today itself the BCCI has proposed a hike for domestic players. After all players need to decide what they need in earlier part of career. Money or sweating out to play for the country ?
Playing for country is bigger than anything else. Money would follow automatically if you are good enough to last longer on international scene.
BCCI isnt using the money on its own. Its giving the ex-cricketers who played for India in yester-years lots of benefits in pensions, hospitalization funds and many more things.
Would ICL bother to do this ? As long as ICL doesnt get ICC approval, its intentions arent going to do any good to indian or world cricket. Thats just power of money..........
And if BCCI acts well and professionally, then it can swallow 100s of ICLs, but then its got to have the will power to come out of its comfort zone.......

And while we are discussing ICC accreditation, the New Zealand Cricket Board has asked the ICC to recognize the ICL to prevent further fissures in world cricket.
And if that happens ( and I dont see why, the BCCI honchos have made sure they rubbed all and sundry the wrong way), what is the BCCI's locus standi?
And all the wonderful things that you have stated about the BCCI have come in reaction to events, not because the BCCI had the vision.And if the ICL is pushing the BCC from its comfort zone, more power to it :)

I have a bit traditional view on cricket. for me the real one is the ICC approved ODIs and Tests which we horrendously write and discuss upon.
The T20 and "three day " games from ICL aint going to give the youngsters the necessary exposure to the game. They wont even know what Test cricket is all about, which runs from last 130 years now.
BCCI is flawed and no saint. Agreed. Its full of honchos and goons who have done no good to the fortunes of domestic players, but given the condition of sports in the country, BCCI stands in a good light.
Isn't it ? NZ has a reason to ask for recognizing ICL cos they dont have money power to aid its cricketers and they also have limited pool of players to pick from given its small population.
Thats again a motive driven. Nothing to do with ethics. And what good is ICL supposed to do for the game besides corrupting young cricketers mind with money ? Are they really planning to lift the standards of the game by coaching the youngsters ? And who are the coaches ? failed ones rt. kapil dev, patil have been failures....
There is no lack of great young prodigies in Indian cricket across the l&b of the country. Look at the Azad maidan @ Mumbai or even the Shivaji Park , thats the place where Mumbai gets its cricketers from and then they go on to play for the country. What the heck are ICL going to do with it ? Hell they dont even have grounds or schedule to declare and the players which they claim to be the "cream", are no ones but failed ex indian players or those who know wont even make to the ranks of indian colors.
And if u read TOI story about Hyderabad Ranji players crossing over to ICL, its not about the money, it was a rebuke to the fading star Ambati rayudu from the coach for his indifferent batting, that led to the defection.
Ethics this ? Noooooooo.
What after 3 years ? are the signed cricketers going to last 3 years ? And how many matches ICL plans to play or organise ? T20 ends in 3 hrs time, what about the Tests ?
Lot of questions buddy. I am not supporting BCCI, but like it or not, they are the ones who run the show in India and thats what we like, so we blog and discuss.....

Both the BCCI and the ICL are in it for the money, not for the love of the game - that much we agree.
That the BCCI is recognized by the ICC does not give them a carte blanche to do as they please.
And if the presence of the ICL pushes the BCCi to change, more power to the ICl.
As regards the money the players will make, I say that they deserve every penny and more - something that the BCCI has been depriving them ( 1 crore promised to the Ranji winners never materialized, daily pay revisions happened only recently but that too after jumping a lot of hoops, domestic players still travel second class,BCCI beig arbit with the pensions).
