• Ganguly & Dravid have played more than enough Tests, have captained the country and Dhoni should give respect when it is due. They would no doubt be hurt
— Former player Gundappa Vishwanath
• In the near future, if the juniors don’t do well and the selectors decide to bring back the seniors, one can well imagine the scene in the dressing room
—Fo coach Anshuman Gaekwad
And this reaction, for a yet to be published interview!
PS:- And now, a reaction from Ratnakar Shetty!!
PPS:- The blog is back!!!
PPPS:- Kapil Dev, the second-highest wicket-taker for India in Tests, will not be present at Anil Kumble’s felicitation function. The former India captain, a one-time teammate of Kumble, has not been invited by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The BCCI, however, has invited all the former captains to the March 25 function in Chennai where the India Test captain will be honoured for taking 600 Test wickets.

The reactions are on the expected lines.
My assumption is thta these reactions including Dhoni's are a result of slanted questions.
Kumble- Not inviting Kapil Dev is a shame. BTW, Have they invited Azharuddin?
Ott,
What we have are pieces of an "interview" on Cricinfo - no one knows what was asked and what was said :).
As regards Azhar, all former captains have been invited - I would suppose it would include Azhar..
Cheers
cricinfo is doing this for a while...raking up unnecessary controversies...
as OTT said the reactions are on expected line without even waiting what questions were posed...
media just goes to these sitting-idle-ready-to-quote ex-players and gets what they want...
its all so predictably boring...
Welcome back Homer. Hope you had a nice trip and good to see the blog rolling again.
I hope Dravid and Saurav are more sensible than getting touchy as Vishy and Anshuman suggest. The thing is Dhoni is at least not doing any backbiting. I don't know if he is right or wrong in this seniors vs juniors thing, but nothing better than performances to back your words.
Saurav and Dravid are respected senior gents...they should be able to handle this maturely.
And what about Pawar's latest, making SRT the kingmaker? What timing. To say nothing of Sachin's alleged take on the T20 WC - recall it was on Dravid's suggestion that the seniors sat out.
very well put SP..predictably boring indeed except for the rabblerousers :)
SB,
I dont even know if there is a senior junior debate - SRT played while Sehwag sat out the finals of the CB series.. Manoj Tiwary played 1 game while Raina played none..
Like I have said before, the selection has more to do with the way we want to approach the game rather than a fixation with personalities..
But the media seems to think otherwise :)

That's right Homer.
I view Mr.Pawar's statement differently. I don't ever for a moment imagine that he speaks without purpose or thought.
With his talk to the media, and with a faint lingering suspicion that the timeline of events suggested may not be so, he has effectively quelled any and chances of counterpoints expressed to Mr.Dhoni's recent press release.
Mr.Pawar has doused the flames before they sparked and has placed the entire burden on Mr.Dhoni to keep proving his words over and over again, through this public gesture of support to Mr.Dhoni.
He also has laid down the rules which everyone including Mr.Dhoni will have to follow when such a time comes...some areas of the cricket park are nurseries and not a place for adults to go tramping about.
I must say that Dhoni should have conveyed the same thing in a better more polished way... that would get the seniors all high and also accept his point... anyway that's life.
This anti-ICL thing is fast getting tiresome, but its not going to get better unless people start filing lawsuits.
Samir,
The only place where the lawsuits will have some effect is in England.. I dont believe the lawsuits will matter an iota in India.
Cheers
