Just scrap it!

David Morgan, the ICC president, says he is "concerned" over the fact that, with the Champions Trophy "perilously close", some of the participating teams are yet to confirm their presence in Pakistan for the tournament starting on September 12.

Sri Lanka is the alternate venue, but there have been doubts expressed on the feasibility of hosting the tournament ther, given the island's ethnic problems. Also, per the the BBC weather center

Most of the country has an abundant or moderate rainfall that is well distributed throughout the year. The southwestern coast and mountain slopes are the wettest regions and here rainfall is greatest during the periods April to June and October to November.

The northeastern side of the island, particularly the lowlands, is much drier, with little rain between February and September. The main rainy season here is between October and January when the northeast monsoon blows onshore
With the Champions Trophy running from the 12th until the 28th of September, there is more than a likely chance that weather will intervene sometime during the course of the tournament.

The third alternate is England. But given that they have barely gotten 50 out of the supposed 140 overs ( one off ODI against Scotland and the only Twenty20 against South Africa), it is extremely unlikely we will get a proper tournament there as well.

Given that all the elements are conspiring against it, this is as good a time as any to give the Champions Trophy a decent burial.

Instead of the Champions Trophy, the T20 World Cup can be alternated with the ODI World Cup - a world Championship every two years in two different formats of the game!

Perfect solution. The idea of a world cup every two years sounds good.

Since we are going to have a world cup 2020 like thingy every 3 months how can they keep fitting this pointless tournament in.

No chance of this happening

It's too much like common sense. As Ritchie Benaud said "the trouble with common sense is that it is not very common" particularly when it comes to Cricket Boards & the ICC

Samir,

The ICC can actually multiply its revenues by having two world cups - the Champions Trophy basically dilutes the importance of the 50 over World Cup..

Its a win win situation but Mt Dubai wont see it that way :)

This is the next weapon used by a coterie in the ICC - create an aura of security issue, collectively pull out so no one team can be sanctioned and slowly throttle cricket in another part of the world.

Just power games...you can mock me and point out this and that security issue and that...but show me one cricket players from Australia, England, SA and NZ (and add the Stanford {there is no WI team anymore and no WICB...all Stanford the "deleted by authour of comment"} team) who has been grazed by a bullet or a shrapnel in these parts.

Bloody hell, it is dangerous to play cricket in England....there are whirte racist bigots there who hate you and could taser you and shoot you with no questions asked and no apologies! We see it on TV...happens all the time in London!

Kick the morons off the turf I say...they can do nothing to revive cricket and keep it going from strength to strength so they play politics to bring down people who can. Moronic crabs in a pail of sea water.

{pending deletion by author of comment}
Let them play their own version of cricket and we play ours...the variety is more here and competition closer...let the dumbsters fight out for some ash....and heh heh...England thinks it can win...it'll take another 200 years before Australia loses another ashes to them!

Get the cowards and sissies out of the cricket fields I say...let them play their tea games for fancy ladies in some northern cold country.

And WC is no substitute for CT...there are no moronic mismatches consuming time and wasting viewer interest in CT as in WC. CT has only the top ODI teams playing unlike the WC.

easy SB, easy... Dont want you to burst a vessel or two :)..

The divide has been there ever since the World Cup moved from England - as the financial clout of the BCCI grew, the resentment from the non Asian bloc has been comunserate..

That said, I would rather we pump in our monies into the domestic game - market it well enough and there is enough talent there to attract the crowds - who, in turn, bring in the money..
