India oppose Champions Trophy in October 2009 - reads the headline on the front page of Cricinfo.
The first paragraph of the article ( by the ubiquitous Cricinfo staff) reads
The Indian board has rejected suggestions made during a meeting of the ICC's chief executives in Dubai on Wednesday to conduct the Champions Trophy in October 2009 because it will clash with the "very important" one-day series at home against Australia. The issue now passes to the ICC Board, which meets on Thursday.Now, a cursory glance at the Future Tours program will show that the 7 ODI series had long been penciled in for October ( a quid pro quo for the CB/VB series or a money spinner all on its own or because CA is not willing to club its Tests and ODI commitments in India, take your pick).
So how is it that the ICC picked this window for the Champions Trophy, contravening its own Future Tours program?
And if staging the Champions Trophy is paramount, why not in September?
( and never mind the quote unquote around very important - Cricinfo may have moved to Bangalore but that does not make them any less snarky - does being persona non grata at the IPL hurt so much.. for so long?)

September is Ashes month. The last ODi of the England Aussie series ends in Sep.
So Champ trophy cant be up in Sep. and now i doubt if there would exist a trophy by name of CT as if India wont participate then most of the sponsors wont be there.

Precisely Buzzz.. September is Ashes month.
If the 7 scheduled ODIs between England and Australia are non negotiable, so are the 7 ODIs scheduled between India and Australia.
And for the ICC to propose October 2009 for the Champions Trophy is mischievous.
If the English calender is sacrosanct, so is the Indian calender.

Right.
And its so ardous to read English authors disregard their Indian itinerary of 7 ODis. Usage of words is simply irritating. And guess who are offenders : Andrew Miller, Other Andrew mcGlashan and of course michael dust in pocket atherton
