No way it's the IPL, the poor bloke is still suffering from ' Sydneygate 2008' !!!!!!!!!! What a lump of a**e he's turned out.
Damn sure nothing will transpire out of this besides a ' reprimand'. This bloke should never have played for Australia post 2005 Cardiff and his drinking binge then. Ah well, sometimes it's nice to see these self made refrees of the game makes asses of themselves.
I don't think it's just radio, it's the casual sort of chat-interview you get on the FM band here. It may be that there's some psychological letting-your-guard-down when there's no cameras pointed at you. But it'd be even easier to go crazy when chatting to Roy and HG, who are a famous comedy duo.
Two things mitigate against the "psychological letting-your-guard-down"
1. Symonds is a well traveled man and so the whole redneck village idiot persona jars.
2. Australian cricketers are amongst the most media savvy and Cricket Australia ensures that all cricketers undergo rigorous media training. Therefore, for Symonds to say what he said does not add up.
Unless of course Mr Symonds has major issues and/or he lives in a bubble.
by the way, I see a comment from Rev Punter that Symmo can walk into -- blah ---
I read somewhere (cricinfo?) a few days back that the reverend said about Tait that he 'trains like tarzan and bowls like jane' or some s--t like that. Is this true? It's unbelievable coming from the captain - beats the hell out of "can't bowl, can't field, can't whatever" from the "greatest captain that Australia never had";)

Tifosi guy,
IPL/Sydneygate - whats the common factor?
Them damn Indians.
First they play with Roy's head and then they play with Roy's head.
Poor Roy!
Welcome to the wonderful world of Aussie journalism 101 :)
Cheers,

Amen to that, St Andrew.
I am inclined to say, I'm lovin' it.

Naresh,
How much longer before the "he is a good chap" defense ( famously used for the Darren Lehmann and Dean Jones transgressions) comes into play?
As regards the Rev Ponting, does he even understand the meaning of the words coming out of his mouth?
Cheers,
