Its clearly not a Mumbai outfit. Otherwise Rohit Sharma wouldn't be in the opposition.
Bombay outfits cant be bought or made with money. Its a two-bit IPL outfit playing in a rubbish tournament, decided by poor quality, ordinary cricket.
Nothing whatsoever to do with Mumbai. Since when did Lalit Modi get to decide what a Bombay outfit should be like?
The Bombay Ranji Trophy team is a Mumbai outfit, any Kanga League side is a Mumbai outfit, CCI is a Mumbai outfit, all MCA age group sides are Mumbai outfits, all Times Shield sides are Mumbai outfits.
Mumbai Indians is a rubbish hoax - an Ambani plaything and little else.
Tell that to the ten thousands of fans who turned up at the stadiums last time supporting their "hoax" outfit.
And how can you call cricket where the best players of the world are playing low on quality.
You're either expecting too much, or just not seeing the picture clearly.

What has people turning up got to do with the quality of cricket? If you had a bollywood v cricket exhibition game promoted by BCCI, you could probably fill wankhede stadium.
But none of this has anything to do with the assertion that Mumbai Indians is not a legitimate Mumbai outfit.

2. Nitish Shetty plays for Tripura. Amit Pagnis plays for the Railways. Vinit Indulkar plays for HP. If we go by your argument on the MI not being the real thing because Sharma plays for the opposition, how can you claim the Mumbai Ranji team to be a Mumbai outfit?

Thats not what i suggested. If you or I started a team tomorrow and called it Mumbai Somebodies, would that be a Mumbai team as well?
The BCCI's city based franchise idea is silly - why did they ignore the Mumbai team that already existed?
The Kanga League is a Mumbai tournament, in which Mumbai teams can participate.
What is the basis for the Mumbai Indians being a Mumbai franchise? Lalit Modi says so, Mukesh Ambani says so, but so what? What is the relationship of this team to the Mumbai Cricket Association? Or to any of the clubs which together constitute the MCA?
The MCA has earned the right to represent Bombay - just as CCI has earned the right to be known as the Home of Cricket. These are things which mean something.
Homer, while I dont agree with Kartikeya, what if there is a Mumbai United or/and Mumbai City tomorrow? Which one of the three will you support?

The BCCI's city based franchise idea is silly - operative term being "The BCCI's city based franchise idea".
And that is what binds the MCA with the MI - both are bodies that are officially recognized by the BCCI.
If the BCCI were to remove sanction for the MCA,history or not, the NCA would cease to represent Mumbai.
Its that simple.

The dibbly dobblys of Kulkarni and Nayar went a long way in Mumbai winning the Ranji Trophy. Also the Duleep Trophy. So I wont worry about the future of Mumbai cricket.
And since Sharma plays for Mumbai in the Ranji, I think you are confusing your teams here.

They could have won Mumbai a handful of games in domestic circuit, but they aint surely India material. Nope, they just are not. You think a bowler who at age of 20 bowls max at speed of 130 would make an impact in Test cricket?
