Plan B

Now that Kevin Pieterson is no longergoing to be a part of the Ashes, what are the odds that we will see wickets similar to Cardiff and Lords at Edgbaston, Headingley and the Oval? And what are the odds that England will strengthen its batting and bat Australia out of the series?

While it is a move fraught with risk ( one slip and the Ashes will be gone), I think that is exactly what England will do.

That would be the expected reaction. But strengthening batting - do you mean replace, say Onions, with another batsmen?

Homer,
Loosing Pietersen might be the bad experience for England.England should not cry that we lost pietersen and we cannot do nothing now?;They have alrounder like Freddie who is capable performing well in this conditions. How team takes lost of Pietersen can be only explained by seeing England's batting?.And if they will not bat well media will not take any seconds to say this is due to absence of pietersen.

Homer,

Eng is planning on bringing in Ian Bell as KP's replacement.

Onions may stay on for Edgbaston at least, I think.

Vijay,

If the recent scores at Edgbaston are anything to go by,there wont be any change in the line up. Although that may not hold true for Headingley and the Oval.

I would suppose that with back to back tests, England will try to bat as long as possible at Edgbaston and use that to pressure Australia at Headingley. If Headingley is another flat wicket, what odds that the Oval is scruffed up and England play 3 spinners there?

Sure Vikas.. Which is why it is imperative that England bat long in the first essay at Edgbaston. That sets the tone for the rest of the series.

I agree Kumar, given Edgbaston's recent history.

However, that may change at Headingley and the Oval.

All the more reason fro England to bat on and on.. And given the workload the Aussie bowlers have had so far, another back to back test set will be interesting.
