Test 4 Day 2

Signed in about half an hour ago, saw England collapse from 58/0 to 78/5 and the question is - can my local league team play England? We have been on a bit of a skid recently and beating an international team will do our morale a world of good!

On a wicket on which Australia managed 445, it takes a special level of skill to first score 102 and then to lose 5 wickets for 20 runs.

Brilliant!

I suspect its a dodgy wicket unfit for test cricket. I look forward to the match referee's report.

I'm mad mad mad really mad. The damn Poms when they collapse, collapse so fast that days 4 and 5 in a test seem redundant.

Yep have to seek refunds for my day four tickets, barring the mother/father/brother/sister of all miracles.

Even then I might see max an hour !

That said - hell this is one beating Eng would need a couple of years to recover from :-)

Talk about Coming Back with a Vengeance.

Ian Bell again showed that if a bowler bowls a few times outside the off stump he would get out tamely and others too didn't play well.

Australians have bowled well but England's batsmen haven't shown good enough judgment of what to play and what to not and have gone hard at the ball instead of playing late like Clarke did.

Nothing left in this match for England except for a loss.Hope they will perform well in the next match.

i really like your words......

it does take talent to score less than 200 runs and lose 15 wickets when the Aussies scored 400+ with 10.

TG,

I am not sure of the implications of the Headingley result - both teams are playing outside of their customary comfort zones and are both prone to making mistakes with the team making the lesser mistakes ending up on top.

Maithreyi,

And yet, the series is tied :)

Greyblazer,

Australia were guilty of the exact same thing at Lords. There is really very little that separates the teams, with each team requiring a lot of external help to put one over the other.
