In the aftermath of the Sreesanth beamer to Kevin Pieterson, English newspapers and sports columnists were besides themselves with rage over the incident.
Beamers must be punished with ban - By Mike Atherton, Sunday Telegraph
Beamer-bowling Sreesanth handed fine for barging - By Jon Culley at Trent Bridge
A deliberate beamer is just throwing a punch by proxy - Mike Selvey
Pietersen shaken by beamer
It was, therefore, with some interest that I perused the English newspapers following the incident (listed below) during the Friends Provident Trophy finals between Durham and Hampshire
| 48.3 | Tremlett to Gibson, SIX, short, straight and crashed into the crowd behind midwicket - what a shot |
| 48.4 | Tremlett to Gibson, FOUR, now he goes through the off-side - such power, great cover drive, down on one knee |
| 48.5 | Tremlett to Gibson, 2 no balls, no-ball immediately signalled as a Sreesanth-like beamer has Gibson ducking and falling back |
| 48.5 | Tremlett to Gibson, 2 runs, that's big again, but in height rather than distance - Gibson launching a top edge that nearly makes the rope and plugs in the ground near Pietersen |
| 48.6 | Tremlett to Gibson, 1 run, cuts into the ground |
Of the contentious moments, none was quite as unappetising as the beamer Chris Tremlett bowled at Gibson. No doubt it was accidental, but since Gibson had hit the previous two balls for six and four, suspicion could not be immediately allayed. - Stephan Brinkley in the Independent
Ottis Gibson warmed up for his opening burst by ducking a beamer from Chris Tremlett then smacking the ball as Barbadians used to do - Scyld Berry in the Sunday Telegraph
This included a horrible beamer at Gibson after Tremlett had been struck for a massive six from the previous delivery. We assumed this to be accidental rather more swiftly than when Sreesanth delivered his beamer during the Trent Bridge Test. - Vic Marks in the Guardian
For Hampshire, Pietersen was out for 12 to continue to modest record in one-dayers at Lord’s, while Chris Tremlett bowled nine overs for 60, in the last of which he served Gibson with that darkest of deliveries, a beamer, straight after being hit for six and four. - Simon Wilde in the Times

And just so you know, Chris Tremlett is a member of the England One Day squad for the first 4 matches against India.

Thanks for the info Homer :)
Check out Mike Atherton s ridiculous PS to the criticism from Indian readers to his article on banning Sreesanth. He wonders and fumes at the fact that he s never received "abuse" in one article than any point in his life.
And now English authors have snubbed Sreesanth to a beamer bowler. Snooty and ridiculous. And they forget the beamers sent down by their own bowlers -- Harmison, Tremlett, Jones and so many on worthless county circuit....
Cheers Jane :)
Tubbyy,
Funny isnt it - the sanctimonous outrage when SS bowls a beamer , the near silence when Tremett does the same.
If the poms are such sticklers for propriety, they will do well the sit out Tremlett for a couple of ODIs, just to show they are serious about the issue of beamers.
But with Sidebottom sidelined... :)
Cheers
heyyy u guys saw ICL's team yesterday.......?? Wat do u think ??.....Many Pak , SA players are also joining.....including Lance Klusner aka Zulu.....i thought he was dead and burried long ago as he played his last match in 2004 ...lol.
And Y are razaq and M yusuf joining...ICL....Dont they want to play for PAK any more....??
Pak cricket is famous for its feuds. So Yousuf s loss is a big shock for them and good for us. Not that he was much successful against us (india) but his presence was enough to pressurise the oppn given his record run in 2006. And with Inzy too gone, Pak is depleted even more....
Boje , is he going to come to India ? If he comes then ghost of Del police is going to gulp him up!!!
And many indian players who joined are useless!!!

MUMBAI, August 20: The BCCI stuck to its stand. "We are happy for the players who have decided to join ICL. But, the BCCl remains firm on its earlier stated stand of not taking back players joining ICL," BCCI vice-president Lalit Modi told reporters here.
PS : hahahhaa wat a waste !!
Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Asif has been offered a whopping sum of 100 million rupees to play in the Indian Cricket League (ICL).
Sources in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that the ICL has offered Asif Rs 100 million for a three-year contract, and the pacer is carefully assessing the various aspects of the offer before taking a final decision next week.
PS : ICL guys sure are nuts !!...lol
Being bested by the unexpected hurt the British pride.
Atherton's raving (not a great admirere of Indians is he, nor am I a great admirer of this sawdust depot manager)...and theo others are looking for excuses.
I did say, they'll latch onto the ball that "robbed" them of the series...Sreesanth won a huge psychological battle against the Englishmen without taking many wickets...he was one who rattled the Englishmen with his mere existence on this planet...the hounding is to be expected.
Thanks much for the info Jane.. much appreciated :)
lol Soulberry :)
