"Aussies Suck" is clearly a non-issue and I would be greatly surprised if any Australian would complain about that at all (and if they do, get over it).
The monkey stuff is largely a media beatup, but it is still a bit more concerning. I hope that the Australian authorities really stamp down on it, as that could get nasty when India come out here, with the idiot minority spoiling it for the rest.

I think what these are saying does not reflect on Mumbai crowd but whole of India . They need to think twice before what they write. Hope we had one Indian Peter L... on cricinfo.

Ah well the baseball diamonds are encroaching into the cricket fields eh? I'm ignorant about the ambience at the Yankees Stadium...been pretty much bound within a distance of the boundaries on India.
Maybe we could just keep our strong points and import the better ones rather than things we do not need.

Anand Vasu and Nagraj Gollapudi need to get off their non-existent high horses. Even Symonds has suggested that the media has played the whole thing up - time for Cricinfo to shut up. Maybe next time the Mumbai crowd should chant "Cricinfo sucks".

Its not just cricinfo, but every media publication who is talking about the Mumbai crowd s very good behavior to the visitors.
And Homer do u approve of this behavior ? I know u r from Mumbai and very strongly root for it, but is it good to turn an blind eye to the acts of the crowd ? Doesnt this put Indian cricket to shame ?
I dont remember crowd trouble has been such a big issue in india barring the Kolkata incident of WC 96.

Sorry, if i m being harsh, but mumbai has put even Kolkata crowd on backfoot when compared. Time to ban Mumbai of any international or domestic cricket.

Two things -
1. Except Chennai, there is no crowd in India that can lay any claim to being both genteel and knowledgeable.
2. The chants are just that - childish.There were neither vindictive or hate filled.
Is that reason enough to bash Mumbai? What is the expectation here - Lords? Or Wimbledon?
Pan Mumbai for the "monkey" chants and the monkey imitations., but "Aussies suck"? Really?

Homer, it is no secret that media plays its own games to stay alive in the game.
This true of print, television and web media everywhere.
Otherwise what exactly is their role besides reporting the scorecards in their 9 '0' Clock specials? After all, there must be only a handful of cricket commentators/writers who could attract and survive throughrespective skills alone. Every other is in employement and will try and find a sticky sensation to support his considerable/limited skills.
Just wish some Mumbaikars hadn't done it...the emphatic win in T20 would have been heightened. I'm sure you'd agree there are many different ways to the same effect...it's a matter of choosing which one.

The media could, if it so chose, educate a people on the nuances of the sport.
There is a big enough market if they took the effort to look. The problem is, it takes effort :).

Mumbai hasnt been in the news just for this Aussies suck thingy, but also for the kind of behavior they met out to indian players too.
doesnt that count for anything ? And is it worthy to give the rights of hosting a huge match to such irresponsible stadia ?
and its not abt bashing mumbai but those kids in the head ppl who for the gallery do such weird acts and end up maligning entire city or stadia whatever.

the crowd behaviour in mumbai cannot be defended. many of us can't relate to such people. but the aussie players deserve no sympathy because they more than anyone else have made boorishness a part of cricket - just go back and see mcgrath in action against the indians and west indians.
