THE GAME

Watched every single ball on DD2 ( this was before DD2 became the monopoly of some mandarin in Delhi). CricInfo has the account.

that was one helluva game Homer. Like it says on cricinfo, the enduring image was that of Vengsarkar crying. What a game that was...

The other enduring image of that game Prabu. was Ajay Jadeja diving full length to limit a certain boundary to two runs.

The dive came out of nowhere and epitomized the hunger Haryana had.

Also, Mumbai rattled along at nearly 5.5 runs per over against, what was then the best new ball attack in the country.

I hope someone in the BCCI is reading this and takes upon himself/herself to market the domestic season better.Because, for all the nay saying out there,there is some pretty good cricket played out in the middle - something that can get in the moolah.

BTW, how did it go with your colleagues at work the day after the Sydney test? And are u planning to be at the WACA?

A lot of colleagues were disgusted with the way the game was won but some made fun - mainly because they could but not really beleiving in it themselves. I am planning on watching the morning session at teh WACA today before going back to work. I watched the 20-20 final last week at the WACA and I must say the bounce was quite springy with some balls bouncing well over the batsman and the keeper for 4 wides or byes. I think Indian batsmen will actually do well on this pitch if they are set - even bounce and lightning quick outfield which suits are penchant for hitting fours.

Prabu,

At Melbourne, Sydney and the Manuka Oval, with absolutely nothing in the wicket, our bowlers performed creditably.

For once we will have a wicket with some juice for the bowlers - it will be interesting to see how the Aussies cope ( especially if the umpires do their job).

I played with Deepak Sharma...he used to play for St.Stephens College...Saad bin Jung's elder brother Asad bin Jung (big hitter and both also somehow related to MAKP) was also playing for Stephens those days.

College/Varsity cricket is pretty much dead now. At least not worth talking about, let alone watch.
