It has turned out to be the costliest slap in Indian cricket. While it cost Mumbai Indians bowler Harbhajan Singh Rs 2.8 crore, and a blanket ban from remainder of the Indian Premier League matches, Punjab Kings XI's Shanthakumaran Sreesanth has lost friends in the Indian dressing room.
His public display of emotion has broken the unwritten locker room code: 'Never get your teammate into trouble'. Sreesanth's crying is being looked upon as a deliberate act by most players. "This is not the first time he has cried, he has a tendency to bawl whenever someone says something to him in the dressing room," said sources.
Labelled the king of antics of the Indian team, Sreesanth is bound to land in thick soup with the BCCI for his comments after the incident. He claimed that Harbhajan sent down a flurry of blows, even terming it as a "WWF match". He allegedly told a Malayalam channel, "I am the only Malayali in the team and that is why I have no support."

Homer, your post provoked me to list things I don't believe regarding the slapgate. My belief/disbelief doesn't constitute truth but I don't believe that:
1. Sreesanth's shedding of tears in public was a deliberate act. I guess, it was an expression of shock. Mind you, he's not a guy who would otherwise take it lying down. He perhaps could not believe it came from an India teammate;
2. Harbhajan slapped him just for nothing.
3. Sreesanth does not have support in the team because of the place he hails from. If he has indeed said so, nothing could be more unfortunate.

The guy has a history of crying - vide his tears when he does not bowl well in India colors..
Then there is the niggle that has been festering between him and Harbhajan all through the South Africa series.
Then there was the episode of him being abused by Zaheer Khan during the nets at the World Cup.
Ganguly also gave him an earful recently ( dont recall the series ).
Then there is the confrontation with Sachin during the Challengers..
The retard has a history..
And for the act of crying on the field alone, I would never ever play him in the Indian team.

I understand you are pissed about Sreesanth's crying and going to the extent of dropping him from the Indian team for crying. What of Harbhajan though? No matter what the provocation, slapping a team mate on the ground is not on and should be condemned as much don't you think?

2.16 crores, the scorn of a nation, a cloud over his character, a lost season in the IPL - this is just the beginning of the price Harbhajan is paying for the slap..
He has basically kissed any captaincy ambitions goodbye.His selection as a player will be under a cloud, he has not exactly endeared himself with the Ambanis, his future in the IPL is also going to be iffy..
And this is just the beginning of the price he is going to pay for the slap..
And Sreesanth? He gets away with murder..

Bhajji kissed his captaincy ambitions goodbye?!?!?! really, u think he had any chance to be the captain of India before this.. the guy doesnt deserve a place in the Indian team in the first place.. apart from his two spells in the CB series finals, when was the last time he bowled well for India.. the one test he didnt play in Australia, India won..
As for Sreesanth, I doubt it would affect his relationship with the rest of the Indians.. Dhoni, in his column a few days after slap-gate, said Sreesanth's one of the most soft-spoken guys outside of the field.. and u think if he said what u claim he said to the malyalam channel, it wouldnt have been a bigger issue with the Indian media all over it.. who is this source anyway.. the same guy Lele who you quoted last month
