Pity they could not play like this all through...

And RD's captaincy!! For once, he stopped playing by the numbers and backed his hunches and the result was there for all to see..

It was this aspect of his captaincy that ticked me off when he led the ODI team.

Now, if they can overcome their sloppiness on the field, they should be a contender next year.

Not really that optimistic.. Kallis has been signed for that ridiculous amount of money for 3 years and Dravid also doesnt deserve that 1.1 mill fig.. so they dont really have a lot of money to throw around unless Vijay Mallya is ready take losses ti win a few games.. if they play misbah, white , streyn right through the tournament atleast next year, they will make some noise..

In my opinion they should credit the Chennai batting line up for folding so easily rather than anything else for me it was another pathetic performance by the Banglore team.They got Lucky as the other team didn't showed up in the second half.

next year could actually be very interesting PB. There is the Twenty20 World Cup in England in May and it will be interesting to see how many Boards release their players to play in the IPL.

In such a situation, does Bangalore have the roster depth to make a run ?

Credit must also be given to Dravid for not playing by the numbers and rotating his bowlers and fielders accordingly.

For the first time in a long time I have seen him sense a chance and go all out to take it.

And his players responded..

Chennai choked but Bangalore could just as easily have fallen by the wayside...

You are right he was a bit aggressive today in the field.
I like Dravid as a batsman but not as a captain he brings too much negative energy and fails to inspire his team.

Negative energy, conservatism, temperamentally unsuited, playing by the numbers - plenty of euphemisms to describe the same thing :)

RD is too correct - as a batsman and a captain.. Wont ever stray from the straight and the narrow.

Which works great in Test cricket, but not so flash in ODIs or T20 :)

Doesn't make sense, he is not a novice, he is a great player, how can he not know that T20 requirements are entirely different from tests.

His ODI captaincy was equally bad.. It seems that the moment there are time/over constraints imposed to the game, RD becomes a whole different captain :)
